Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA News) - Heavy rain has triggered flooding and landslides in Jayapura and nearby areas leaving two local people killed on Tuesday.

The two people Undari (23) and Elisabeth Lunnisai were killed when their rented house was hit by a landslide in the ASMI Hamadi area in the city of Jayapura.

Their bodies have been moved to the Al Hamadi hospital.

The road of Entrop, in the district of South Jayapura was submerged 50 centimeters below the flood water paralyzing traffic.

"The flood water is too deep and the current was strong causing tens of motor vehicles trapped in a traffic jam," a woman said. (*)
