We had a good financial system report and almost all regions remains in conducive situations."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Defense Force Commander General Moeldoko has targeted to reach 40 to 42 percent of Minimum Essential Force (MEF) during Strategic I plan in 2014.

"We reached MEF beyond the target 28.7 percent in 2013, and we expect to increase it 40 to 42 percent in 2014," stated Commander General Moeldoko, as his opening comment at the Defense Force Leaders Meeting 2014, here on Wednesday.

Moeldoko added that Indonesian people can be witness to Indonesias primary weapons defense system on army, navy and air force that will be strengthened in 2014.

In the 2014 budget, the Defense Force will receive Rp86 trillions, of which, 52 percent will be used for routine expenditures and 48 percent for development sector.

According to Indonesian Defense Force data, during 2013, the military force had performed well on financial and operational sectors.

"We had a good financial system report and almost all regions remains in conducive situations," he explained.

However, Moeldoko added that the situation should be further enhanced by strengthening the intelligent system and territorial security, particularly in the border areas.

"In the border areas, we conduct a comprehensive operation that involves the army, navy and air force, to avoid any kind of friction," Moeldoko explained.

Regarding the shooting cases in Papua, where there were victims from military force, General Moeldoko admitted that the service operation with welfare approach has not had a good result.

"Rather than conducting military operations, we have adopted a more humane approach, yet the armed groups are still performing acts of disobedience. It is unfair for the Defense Forces to allow this to continue without repercussions," he added.

The Indonesian Defense Force Leaders Meeting 2014 will be held from January 8 to 13, to discuss the national militarys strategic plans and work progress evaluation.
