"Hambit asked Cornelis to provide the funds and give them to the defendant. Cornelis agreed to submit the money on Wednesday, October 2, 2013," the prosecutor explained.

On Wednesday morning (Oct. 2) Chairun Nisa and Hambit met at Cilik Riwut airport in Central Kalimantan to discuss the handing over of the money to Akil Mochtar.

On that very evening, Chairun took the money from Cornelis at Mediterania Apartment in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, and later, accompanied by Cornelis , handed over the money to Akil at his official residence in Widya Chandra Complex.

"When the defendant and Cornelis were waiting for Akil Mochtar to meet them, KPK officers arrived at the scene and arrested Cornelis, Chairun Nisa and Akil Mochtar," he explained.

The KPK officers confiscated four brown envelopes containing Sing$107,500, Rp400 thousand in the first envelope, Sing 107,500 and Rp366 thousand in the second, US$22 thousand in the third and Sing$79 thousand in the fourth envelope, from Cornelis, in addition to Rp75 million wrapped in a paper from Chairun Nisa.

Chairun is now charged with violation of the corruption law, carrying a sentence of four to 20 years in jail and a fine of Rp200 million.

Hambit Bintih and Cornelis Nalau meanwhile have also been charged in the session court, with violation of certain articles in the corruption law, carrying a sentence of anything between three and 15 years in jail and a fine Rp150 million to Rp170 million.
