The current US economy that has shown signs of getting better will cause rupiah to delicately re-correct."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The rupiah currency remained stable at Rp12,080 per US dollar during inter-bank transactions in Jakarta, on Monday.

"The rupiah currency tends to stabilize, even though the positive economic data of United States was over shadowing," Monex Investindo Futures Head of Research Ariston Tjendra stated here, on Monday.

According to Tjendra, the strengthened US economic data caused speculation in the market that the Federal Reserve will continue to taper off financial stimulus.

"The market tends to expect that the Fed will taper off the stimulus, and this kind of sentiment results in the strengthening of the US dollar," he explained.

Tjendra added that the US dollar index has also potentially held still in the positive area, following the slowdown of the Chinese economy that pushes the demand of US dollar as a "safe haven" currency.

Meanwhile, Trust Securities Head of Research Reza Priyambada stated that the unemployment figures in US, which has decreased again, indicated that their economy is getting better.

"The current US economy that has shown signs of getting better will cause rupiah to delicately re-correct," Priyambada stated.

On the domestic front, Priyambada predicted that the high inflation rate this year will also over shadow rupiah movement.

However, Priyambada explained that the optimism with regard to the hike in the ASEANs capital revenue, including that of Indonesia, will hold back the pressure against rupiah.

The capital revenue for Indonesia in December 2013 was recorded at US$99.4 billion, an increase of US$2.4 billion from the previous month.
