Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The police arrested a military attacker, who is believed to be part of a group responsible for killing First Private Sugianto in Puncak Jaya, Papua, on last Friday (Jan. 24).

"One of them has been arrested," National Police Chief General Sutarman noted here on Monday.

He remarked that the suspect was strongly believed to be a member of the separatist Free Papua Movement (OPM).

He claimed that the police have also confiscated an F16 gun, which was allegedly used during the attacks.

First Private Sugianto was travelling along with a team of Indonesian military personnel (TNI) and police members to Pintu Angin. He was killed in the gun battle that broke out between the TNI personnel and armed civilian men.

During the gun battle, one of the armed civilian men was killed and an AK rifle was later retrieved from the crime scene.

Commander of the Regional 17th Military Command Major General Christian Zebua informed Antara that First Private Sugianto was killed in Mulia while en route to the scene of an earlier firefight in Pintu Angin.

"He was killed by armed civilian men while travelling along with other police members on the way to the scene," he pointed out.

His body was flown to Jayapura from Mulia on Friday. (*)
