Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index closed higher on Friday boosted by report of improved US economic data.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose 41.96 points or 0.94 percent to 4,466.67 points with index of 45 most liquid stock up 1.1 percent to 751.05 points.

PT Anugerah Securindo Indahs analyst Bertoni Rio said the US stock market was on a rising trend on improved labor data of that country.

"The US data signaled progress toward global economic recovery sending positive sentiment to the regional markets including BEI," he said.

He predicted the BEI index would hover around 4,445-4,510 points in the opening trade next week, but he warned of a hit by profit taking.

HD Capitals analyst Yuganur Wijanarko also warned of a reversal when investors suddenly decided to sell for profit

Trading on Friday at BRI was marked with 272,431 transactions and 4.67 billion shares worth Rp5.90 trillion changing hands.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng closed 1 percent higher in index to 21,636.85 points with Nikkei index up 2.17 percent to 14,462.41 points and that of Straits Times gaining 0.83 percent to 3,013.14 points.(*)
