The meeting is held in coincidence with the Fourth Joint Commission Meeting between Indonesia and the US which has been held annually since 2010.
According to a press release received from the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry among issues to be discussed during the joint commission meeting are on democracy, security, trade, investment, education, climate change and energy.
The Monday meeting will also include the signing of an MoU on South-South and Triangular Cooperation and an MoU on Combating on Wildlife Trafficking and Promotion of Wildlife Conservation.
John Kerry is on a visit to Jakarta from February 15 to 17 as part of his Asian tour also taking him to Seoul, Beijing, and Abu Dhabi.
In Jakarta, Kerry will co-chair the Joint Commission Meeting under the US-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership, Jen Psaki, the Department spokesperson, said in a press statement posted on the website of the US embassy.
"The Secretary will reiterate that the United States values Indonesias growing leadership on global challenges and looks forward to continue working with Indonesia on issues including climate change, security, democracy, regional integration, and human rights," Psaki said.
Kerry will also underline the importance of the US engagement with Asias multilateral institutions when he meets the ASEAN Secretary General in Jakarta. This is the fifth trip to Asia for the Secretary in the past year, Psakin added.
