Palopo (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First lady Ani Yudhoyono were bestowed traditional titles from the 40th King of Luwu Andi Maradang Mackulau Opu To Bau at the Palace of the Luwu Kingdom, South Sulawesi.

"With the responsibility, honor, and pride bestowed on me, I hope to implement what the people of Palopo whole-hearted expect of me," the President stated at the award ceremony for the traditional title in Palopo, South Sulawesi, on Friday.

The "Anakoji To Appamonang Ri Luwu" title, which was awarded to the President, means "The Glorious Prince Who Arched the Dignity in Luwu." Meanwhile, the First Lady was awarded the "We Tappa Cina Warawarae Ri Manjapai" title, which means "The Princess Who Has a Shining Bright Face From Majapahit."

The award ceremony for the traditional title began with the "Ripaduppai Lellung" procession. The President and First lady were covered by the honorary hood by "Sanro Padduppa" or shaman and were escorted to the palace front door.

After the procession, they were guided to the "Lamming Pulaweng" or primary throne.

Before the award ceremony for the traditional title, the President offered Friday prayers at the Luwu Palopo Great Mosque. Thereafter, the President gave a speech wherein he called on all Muslims to be good citizens and servants of God.

Previously, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was also awarded the traditional title as an honorary resident of the Tana Toraja community in South Sulawesi, which is reputed for its high tolerance and harmony.
