There has to be political solution in Syria not military."
Jakarta (ANTARA News)- Irans Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Syria needs political solution, not military intervention, to end the three years of conflict in the country.

"There has to be political solution in Syria not military. Nobody from outside Syria can impose who and how the Syrian people should govern themselves," said Zarif during a public speaking event in Jakarta on Friday.

According to him, Irans approach to the Syrian conflict was based on the belief that the Syrian people should decide their own future and not be dictated by other countries.

Previously, Indonesias Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa stated that diplomacy and negotiation are the keys to resolve the ongoing Syrian conflict. Marty said this when he attended the Geneva II Conference in Montreaux, Switzerland, held to find a solution for the conflict in Syria. The conference was attended by representatives from 40 countries, the UN, the EU, the Arab league and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

"Indonesia called on the participants of the conference to convey the message to the world that the Syrian conflict cannot be resolved by using military force. We understand the complex situation in Syria, but that must not divert our attention from the most crucial issue, which is to end all fighting in Syria," Marty claimed.

The minister also emphasized the need to stop all fighting in Syria and to allow access to all humanitarian agencies, so that assistance can be provided to the conflict-ridden country.
