Astana (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Kazakhstans Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov said on Wednesday that he and his cabinet had resigned, the Interfax news agency reported.

"In accordance with the constitution, the head of state has accepted my resignation," Akhmetov told a government meeting. "I want to thank President Nursultan Nazarbayev on behalf of myslef and my government for his trust."

Akhmetov said his government will keep doing its duty until a new government is formed.

Akhmetov (55), a former first deputy prime minister, had been leading the government since September 2012. (*)
