Jakarta (ANTARA News) -Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has defended his position as the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggles (PDIP) presidential candidate saying that it will not affect his performance as the Jakarta governor.

"What I do as the presidential candidate has nothing to do with the governors activities. Therefore it will not disturb my activities as the Jakarta governor. Everything goes on as usual," he informed journalists here on Friday.

Despite the increasing activities related to his position as the PDIPs presidential nomination, Jokowi stated that he remained able enough to maintain his focus on the provincial governments programs.

"The existing development programs have been made since last October, and have been processed in the provincial legislative assembly. So, it is time to execute them," he noted, adding that he had shared duties with his deputy in executing the programs.

PDIP Deputy Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto mentioned earlier that Joko Widodos active involvement in the PDIPs recent campaign trail and his activities as the partys presidential candidate did not disrupt his gubernatorial duties.

The PDIP has been acknowledged by the results of quick vote counts of various pollsters, including the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Cyrus Network, as the winner of this years legislative election by gaining 18.6 percent of total votes.
