Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index (JCI) closed slightly higher on Wednesday on continued inflows of foreign fund to the domestic market, analysts said.

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange rose 2.79 points or 0.06 percent to 4,873.01 points with index of 45 most liquid stocks up 0.04 percent to 823.43.

Asjaya Indosurya Securities analyst William Surya Wijaya said the JCI was still in the positive area mainly on foreign funds continuing to flow into the domestic market.

"Foreign net buy on Wednesday totaled Rp344.526 billion," William noted.

He said the JCI is still in the process of consolidation for further increase.

In Wednesdays trade there were 271,343 transactions at BEI with 4.21 billion shares worth Rp4.86 trillion changing hands.

Gainers were outnumbered by decliners by 155 to 160 with 85 shares unchanged.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng recorded a 0.11 percent increase to 22,696.01 points with Nikkei index up 3.01 percent to 14,417.68 points with that Straits Times gaining 0.23 percent to 3,253.82 points.
