Pekanbaru (ANTARA News) - The Pekanbaru Resort Police secured four CCTV units for the video recording of a robbery of 3 kilograms of gold and Rp500 million in cash from a Jenderal Sudirman Street store, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province.

"We also secured other evidences from the scene," the Chief of Pekanbaru Resort Police force Commissioner Arief Fajar Satria told ANTARA News in a phone interview here on Monday.

The police force also questioned several witnesses to the robbery, including the owner of the Mulia gold store.

"We questioned five witnesses, including four residents and the owner. The residents were at the scene when the robbery occurred," he said.

The preliminary investigation of the robbery, which occurred on Sunday, April 20, indicated that five robbers had committed the crime.

Police officers were still trying to trace the thieves and ascertain their identities.

The robbery occurred when the security officers in Pekanbaru were busy securing the legislative election calculation.

The witnesses in the scene said the robbery occurred at 13:00 p.m. local time. A few of the thieves brought guns to frighten the victim and the residents.
