Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index (JCI) fell slightly 0.04 percent or 1.81 points on profit taking in the early trade on Monday .

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) opened at the level of 4,895.84 with index of 45 most liquid stocks down 0.06 percent to 829.01 points.

"Foreign market players sold more than buying shares pushing the JCI down to a negative area," chief researcher of Trust Securities Reza Priyambada said .

A team of technical analysts from Mandiri Sekuritas said the market players were still data of inflation and trade balance to be released the Central Bureau of Statistics early May.

The market also is awaiting announcement of the name of the running mate of presidential candidates of major parties in the July presidential election , it said.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng fell 0.51 percent in index to 22,110.35, with Nikkei index shrinking 1.17 percent to 14,259.08 and that of Straits Times down 0.30 percent to 3,257.29 points.(*)
