Solo, Central Java (ANTARA News) - As many as 5 thousand dancers will enliven Solo 24 Hour Dancing in order to celebrate World Dance Day here on Tuesday.

The dancers are come from the Indonesian Art Institute of Surakarta (ISI Surakarta), Solo State Vocational School 8, as well from across all dance studios in Solo.

The opening event was marked by offering flower garlands for the five dancers who will be dancing for 24 hours nonstop. The flower necklace was presented by the Rector of ISI Surakarta, Prof. Sri Rochana in the campus.

"Five dancers will dance in the ISI Surakarta campus from 6 a.m. until 6 a.m. tomorrow morning," pointed out Rochana.

This event is being held for the fifth time at ISI Surakarta.

Not only at the ISI campus, thousands of dancers are also dancing at various other locations such as at General Sudirman Solo street, Paragon Mall, Solo Grand Mall, Solo Square Mall, Adi Sumarmo Airport, and Solo State Vocational School 8.

The dance show on General Sudirman Street will be enlivened by 500 dancers and 750 scouts from across 34 provinces in Indonesia.

"While the ISI campus is involving our all dance students," clarified Rochana.

World Dance Day celebration is conducted in cooperation with the ISI Surakarta, Jakarta Erasmus Huis, and the International Dansteater Amsterdam.

From this cooperation, several dance repertoires will be on stage; one of the repertoires is the result of the collaboration between ISI Surakarta students with International Dansteater students.
