Ghazni, Afghanistan (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Afghan forces have killed 50 Taliban militants including a shadowy district governor in Ghazni province on Tuesday, a local official said.

"The units of national security forces kicked off operations against anti-government armed militants in Purdol and Janal villages of Gilan district early today morning and so far 50 Taliban rebels including a shadowy governor Mullah Habibullah have been killed," spokesman for provincial governor Shafiq Nang told Xinhua.

Around 30 more militants have been injured during the operations, he added.

Without mentioning the possible casualties suffered by the security personnel, the official stated that the operations will continue until the anti-government militants are eradicated from the area.

Taliban militants have yet to make comment.(*)
