Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on the night of June 16 arrested Biak Numfor Districts chief with the initials YS in a hotel in Jakarta, KPKs spokesman Johan Budi said here on Tuesday.

"We have arrested him and five other people last night during a raid in a hotel in Jakarta," Johan added.

He explained that before the raid the KPK officials had kept watch on a man with the initials TM, who had arranged a meeting with Biak Numfor districts chief of disaster mitigation office with the initials Y. Both met at the Hotel Acacia, Central Jakarta. After the meeting, Y and TM went to a room on the 7th floor, where Biak Numfor districts chief YS was staying.

"When the three met, KPK officials moved quickly and arrested them. During the raid, the officials found money worth 100,000 Singapore dollars and a car," Johan said.

The six people are still being questioned at KPKs building. KPK was given 24 hours to decide on the status of the six people.

Regarding the raid in a hotel in Jakarta last Monday, KPK officials on Tuesday sealed some rooms at the Ministry for Development of the Disadvantaged Regions (PDT) building located in Central Jakarta.

Biak Numfor district is part of Papua province. (*)
