... award for five categories: water resources reservation, sustainable energy use and development, biodiversity development, pollution prevention, and integrated waste management development... "
Bandung, West Java (ANTARA News) - PT Bio Farma, a state-owned pharmaceutical industry, received the Best Indonesia Green Award 2014 from the La Tofi School of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which was supported by Forestry Ministry and Industrial Ministry.

"Bio Farma receives award for five categories: water resources reservation, sustainable energy use and development, biodiversity development, pollution prevention, and integrated waste management development," said Bio Farma's Marketing Director Mahendra Suhandono in Bandung, West Java, on Friday.

Mahendra noted that Bio Farma has been initiating Indonesian Sustainable Movement program to draw all stakeholders' participation in repairing environment for sustainable Indonesia.

Mahendra explained that the Indonesian Sustainable Movement was aimed at delivering five messages: do not be afraid of floods, do something to avoid floods, ride bike as much as possible, plant more trees, and make biopori holes and manage your waste.

"Through the five messages, Bio Farma has succeeded in gaining public's participation, as well as other sides. So, this award is dedicated to all the contributors and supporters of this program," said Mahendra.

According to Bio Farma's Head of CSR and General Affair R Herry, the Best Indonesia Green Award was in line with the company's implementation of ISO: 26000: 2010, which is a concept of world class CSR, Green Industry, and sustainability.

Herry noted that the ISO: 26000: 2010 was an umbrella of the company to regulate a comprehensive green industry concept, which covers whole business phases from the selection of raw materials, production process, formulation, filling, packaging, to the finished product.

The Indonesia Green Award (IGA) 2014 was held with a common understanding that everyone has contributed in harming the environment. So, they need to count their own carbon footprints as a baseline to pay for their responsibility.

At the same time, everyone also have an obligation to create cooperation within government, public, and companies to resolve the damage.

Thus, the IGA 2014 was aimed at appreciating all factions who had succeeded in their environmental preservation program through partnership of the three stakeholders.

The La Tofi School of CSR was established in 2010, aimed at creating a new concept of Indonesian CSR as a creative part of the companies to innovate and respond immediately to participate in resolving problems within the society.
