Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA News) - The Semarang Resort Police will deploy 1,400 personnel to secure the presidential election on July 9, 2014.

"The police is on the alert and will maximally secure the presidential election to create a peaceful and safe condition," the Chief of Semarang Police Resort Djihartono said here on Monday.

Djihartono said all personnel are ready to be deployed to several polling posts in the area at 00:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8.

He added that the police have prepared a security scheme, which will depend on the vulnerability in each area, and will conduct preventive action to create a conducive situation.

"We have also urged all supporters of the president candidates to assist in creating a conducive environment during the election period," Djihartono said.

Two presidential and vice presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa as well as Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla, will contest in the election that will be held on July 9, 2014.

Indonesias presidential election campaign ended on Saturday evening. No promotional campaign will be held by either of the candidates during July 6-8, 2014.
