Merak, Banten Province (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Navy is deploying warship KRI Tjiptadi-381 to secure presidential election on July 9, 2014.

"We stand by around the clock to secure the presidential election," the Commander of the Banten Naval Base Colonel Judijanto said here on Tuesday.

The Indonesian Navy is also deploying a platoon of anti-riot soldiers equipped with military vehicles and a platoon of military police personnel, he said.

Judijanto said the Navy is also deploying a medical team equipped with an ambulance as well as two cargo trucks.

The platoon from KRI Tjiptadi-381 is led by Lieutenant Colonel Cahya Indra Susilo.

"All soldiers are ready to secure the presidential election in full alert," Judijanto said, adding that the Indonesian military is ready to assist police officers in securing the election and maintaining conducive situation.

The Navy is also ready to anticipate disturbance and conflict that will likely occur during the election. However, the Navy will always give priority to persuasive measures.

"We will take firm action in case of anarchic act because it will have a detrimental impact on the people," he said.

The Banten Naval Base is also preparing 200 personnel from the naval base and the warship KRI Tjiptadi-381.

According to the General Election Commission (KPU), a total of 186,722,030 Indonesians have been registered to vote in the 2014 presidential election. They will cast their ballots in 486,866 polling posts across the country.
