Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Yudhoyono joined Indonesian muslims congregations to say Idul Fitri prayers at the Jakarta Istiqlal mosque Monday morning.

Wearing a black suit, Yudhoyono who was accompanied by Vice President Boediono, a number of cabinet ministers and ambassadors of friendly countries, joined the prayers which started at 07.00 am.

This is the last Idul Fitri for him as an Indonesian top leader before replaced by Joko Widodo in the next October 20.

The prayers were led by H Hassanudin Sinaga with Maskuri Abdillah, a professor of the State Islamic University as acting as the preacher.

Since 6.0 am thousands of muslims flocked to the mosque. Muslims taking part at the Idul Fitri prayers at the mosque have to pass security examinations first because the president and other state officials also conducted the Idul Fitri prayers there.

After conducting the prayers, he will hold an open house to receive well-wishers. The open house event was divided into four sessions.

The first session started at 08.50 am until 10 am which was opened for the families and relatives of he and his wife and the big family members of the presidential office.

The second session will follow after 10.00 am to 12.15 am for the vice president and his family members.

From 10.30 to 12.30 am, Yudhoyono will receive leaders of state institutions, diplomatic corps members, ministers, military and police leaders.

The last session from 03.30 pm to 05.00 pm, will be the open house session for the public.
