Langkat, N Sumatera (ANTARA News) - Three Pangkalan Brandan residents in Babalan Subdistrict, Langkat District, North Sumatera Province, got injured after a homemade bomb that they tried to tap exploded on Monday at 10.30 am local time, a police officer said.

Two of three victims, identified by Azuar Sembiring and Agam, sustained serious injuries while the other named Kunting, Azuars wife, got light wounds, Pangkalan Brandan Police Chief Adjunct Commissioner SR Tambunan here Monday.

Azuar lost both of his arms while Agam got wounded on most parts of his body, he said adding that the victims were scavengers who got the object from Perlak, Aceh Province.

"We have coordinated with North Sumateras bomb-defusing squad to make a further investigation into this incident," Tambunan said.

Alfian, local resident, said he thought the sound of the explosion was from a cars tire. But he and some other people were shocked when finding the seriously-injured victims lie on the floor.

"We, then, get rushed to bring them to Pertaminas hospital," Alfian said. (*)
