Ternate, North Maluku (ANTARA News) - The National Narcotics Board (BNN) office in North Maluku province is investigating 2.5 kg of crystal meth believed to belong to a police officer.

"The package of crystal meth was sent from Jakarta to someone in Ternate. It is believed the owner is a police officer in North Maluku but we still have to investigate the case," Zainuddin Hi Samad, chief of the offices eradication unit, said here on Tuesday.

Zainuddin said the BNN office is also investigating the alleged involvement of a military member who is now being questioned at Sub-Military Police Detachment in the same case.

On Monday, the office seized 2.5 kg of dried hashish at a forwarding agent in the provincial capital of Ternate. The hashish is believed to belong to a military member.

Three people, identified by their initials as MAH, RR and SB, were arrested in different places in North Maluku last week on charges of possessing drugs.

MAH was arrested by BNN officer near the state electricity company (PLN) office in North Maluku for allegedly possessing 0.5 gram of meth.

To prevent drug trafficking in North Maluku, a team of the BNN office also arrested AH (37) and RR (40) on charges of trafficking in drugs, he said.

The team seized 1.5 grams of crystal meth from AH and 1.8 grams of crystal meth from RR in two different places.
