Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The annual Bali Democratic Forum on October 10--11 will be chaired and co-chaired by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Philippines President Benigno S. Aquino III, according to an official at the foreign ministry.

"The theme of the event this year is Evolving Regional Democratic Architecture: the Challenges of Political of Development, Public Participation and Socio-economic Progress in the 21st Century. This event is a platform for sharing experiences about democratic implementation in Asia-Pacific countries," Foreign Ministrys Director General, Information and Public Diplomacy, Esti Andayani stated on Tuesday.

"We have invited the heads of states and foreign affairs ministers from 51 countries in Asia-Pacific, and we have also invited representatives from 64 other countries and four international organizations."

According to Esti, the Bali Democracy Forum, which will be held for the seventh time this year, will serve to showcase Indonesias democracy to the world.

"We expect the participants to be inspired by all the experiences shared in the event," Esti remarked.

Among the heads of states who have confirmed their attendance in the Bali Democracy Forum are Brunei Darussalams Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Timor Lestes Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao.
