JAKARTA, Sept 20, 2014 - (ANTARA) - The biggest auto show in South East Asia, the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), was officially inaugurated yesterday by the Minister of Trade, Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Lutfi. After the official opening, the Minister of Trade along with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Republic of Indonesia, Roy Suryo, Chairman of GAIKINDO Sudirman MR, and Chairman of Committee of IIMS 2014, Johnny Darmawan, took a short tour to participants' booths.

During the tour, Minister M. Lutfi had the chance to take a closer look at some of the flagship or concept cars displayed by sole agents (APM) at their respective booths. In each booth they visited, they were warmly greeted by top officials of the respective sole agent who specifically came to the exhibition to officially open their booths for the first time.

The presence of sole agents' top officials was no surprise since in addition to officially opening IIMS, each APM simultaneously conducted press conferences. All of this year's participants at Halls A, B, C, D and outdoor area concurrently held press conferences. Just like the previous years, some APMs took advantage of the momentum to launch their latest products or to introduce their concept cars.

Mitsubishi Motors, for example, took the IIMS momentum to introduce their latest Sport Utility vehicle, Mitsubishi Delica. The launching of the vehicle, claimed to be the fusion of MPV and SUV, was conducted by Noboru Tsuji, President Director PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian, the sole agent of Mitsubishi in Indonesia. Noboru said Mitsubishi Delica is an MPV that offers the characteristics and taste of an SUV.

PT Honda Prospect Motor as the official sole agent for Honda also conducted launching event for its initial crossover vehicle in Indonesia, Honda HR-V. The launching of Honda's latest flagship vehicle was conducted by President Director PT HPM, Tomoki Uchida. Meanwhile, in this year's IIMS, PT Nissan Motor Indonesia as the sole agent of Infiniti launched its premium sedan for Indonesian market, Infiniti Q50. During the launching, President Director PT NMI Steve Ardianto said that the introduction of Infiniti to Indonesian market is intended to satisfy the need for premium sedan that offers sporty and dynamic characteristics. In this year's IIMS, Tata Motors also took the opportunity to launch two of its latest products, namely Tata Zest and Tata Nexon.
