Semarang, C Java (ANTARA News) - The high prosecution office of Central Java on Tuesday arrested Eko Haryanto an assistant rector of the University of Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto on charge of corruption.

Eko was charged with involvement in embezzling Rp10 billion fund belonging to the state-owned university.

Eko was arrested after the police investigators handed over his dossiers to the high prosecution office.

The high prosecution office also put in detention cell two other suspects in the same case assistant dean of economic faculty Anjar Taruna Ari Sudewa and dean of agriculture faculty Bondansari.

They are put in detention to make the process of court investigation easier it easier, Yacob Hendrik, a prosecutor of the High Prosecution office, said.

The three are charged with manipulating state budget fund for laboratory and research center equipment worth Rp28 billion of the university.

"Based on an audit the loss to the state is around Rp10 billion," Yacob said.

Police also handed over evidence in cash totaling Rp440 million confiscated form the suspects.(*)
