Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - One of the two victims from a used aircraft explosion at the Soekarno-Hatta airport on Sunday died due to burns.

"It is true that one of the two victims died while he was being treated," spokesman of the Tangerang district general hospital Muhammad Nizar said in a message to Antara.

The other victim was receiving intensive treatment at the hospitals intensive care unit (ICU), he said.

The used aircraft exploded at the hangar of PT Garuda Maintenance Facility at the Indonesian biggest airport on Sunday afternoon while the two workers were cutting the tail of the used plane.

The two workers who sustained serious injuries on their bodies were taken to the hospital.

Chief of the airports police precinct Snr Comr CH Pattopoi alleged the tail still contained fuel when the two workers were cutting it, leading to an explosion.

He added however that the police would interrogate a number of witnesses to establish the exact cause of the explosion.
