Jakarta (Antara News) - President Joko Widodo, or popularly known as Jokowi, during his first speech after being sworn in at the parliament building on Monday called on all stakeholders to boost development in Indonesia in the future.

"This is time for us to make history. Let us push Indonesia forward, make this country independent in the economic sector, and always maintain our culture," President Jokowi stated after being inaugurated as Indonesias seventh president for the period of 2014-2019.

The president pointed out that all targets can be achieved if stakeholders worked together.

"We will never be truly independent if we do not work hard. The government will ensure that the Indonesian people across the country benefit from our services. I also call on all state agencies to work hard based on their assigned tasks," the president affirmed.

"To the fishermen, laborers, farmers, drivers, entrepreneurs, and professionals, let us work together because this is a historical moment for us. We must be present globally and maintain our sovereignty and dignity as a nation," President Jokowi remarked.

President Jokowi and Vice President Jusuf Kalla were inaugurated here on Monday morning during a plenary session of the Peoples Consultative Assembly. The inauguration ceremony was attended by former presidents and vice presidents of Indonesia: former president B.J. Habibie, former president Megawati Soekarnoputri, former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former vice president Try Sutrisno, former vice president Hamzah Has, former first lady Siti Sinta Nuriyah, former first lady Ani Yudhoyono, and wife of former vice president Karlina Umar Wirahadikusuma.
