"We could not afford making a mistake in selection . Ministers must be clean and credible ," Jusuf Kalla (JK) said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) could not rush announcement of the names of his cabinet ministers.

Selection must not be made in a hurry as the ministers would work for 5 years, JK said .

"We could not afford making a mistake in selection . Ministers must be clean and credible ," JK told reporters in his office on Thursday.

He said tight selection, therefore, is made by sending their names to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to see their track records.

The result of track record examination by the KPK would be needed for the president to make his decision on the candidates, he said.

President Joko Widodo earlier sent the names of 43 candidates to the KPK and the anti graft agency marked a number of the candidate as potential to face corruption or other legal cases.

Jokowi, therefore, has to delay announcing the names of the cabinet minister on Wednesday as he need more time to make replacements.

A presidential spokesman told reporters on Wednesday that the president would announced the names of his cabinet minister on Wednesday night.

The announcement was to be made at a quay of Jakartas Tanjung Priok port to give emphasis on his vision of making the worlds largest archipelago a world maritime center.

JK said the announcement would not be made on Thursday , adding, "may be in one or two days to come and the announcement would be made at the state palace not in other places."

JK confirmed that some of the candidates are from political parties but they are professional, experienced and credible.(*)
