Jakarta (ANTARA News) - As many as 11 countries are set to take part in the Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) 2014 to be held at the Bung Karno Sports Stadium in Jakarta from November 1 to 9.

"For the first time ever, we will organize a world-class book fair themed The Focused Country: Saudi Arabia this year. The event is a follow up to the earlier Indonesia Book Fair," Remon Agus, the Chief of Foreign Cooperation of the Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI) said here on Tuesday.

The 11 participants include Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, China, Canada, Pakistan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan.

The exhibition will bring together 87 participants comprising publishers, book shops, libraries, cultural foundations, mass media, and other industries.

Agus further stated, "This event will serve as a point of assembly for people from different nations."

Moreover, the IIBF 2014 will also serve as a platform for writers, men of letters, cultural observers and academics from different countries to share their ideas and works with the public, particularly visual media readers, he noted.

Dialogs, shows and debates will also be organized at the event.

According to the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mustafa Ibrahim Al-Mubarak, his country will be more serious about taking part in this international book fair.

"This event is a good and important occasion to forge relations between the two countries, particularly in the scientific field," he remarked.(*)
