This suggests that business prospects and optimism remain good.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Business Tendency Index (ITB) in Indonesia rose to 107.24 in the third quarter of 2014 from 106.00 in the previous quarter, according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

"This suggests that business prospects and optimism remain good," BPS Chief Suryamin said here on Wednesday.

All sectors except mining and quarry recorded business growth in the third quarter of 2014, he said.

"The mining and quarry sector slowed down due to the policy to restrict the export of mineral and coal," he said.

The financial, real estate and service sectors recorded the highest business tendency index of 112.43 due to an increase in the operating income of companies, the use of production capacity and the average working hours, he said.

BPS forecast Business Tendency Index in the fourth quarter of 2014 at 103.94.

"Overall, business conditions in the fourth quarter of 2014 will increase from the previous quarter and will improve in many sectors," he said.

Business tendency index is an indicator of the latest business development based on the business tendency survey to depict the business and economic conditions.

The survey is carried out by BPS in cooperation with Bank Indonesia (BI) in major cities every quarter.

The survey conducted in the third quarter of 2014 involved 2,870 large and medium scale companies.(*)
