Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta composite index (JCI) closed lower on Thursday on the countrys economic slowdown .

The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) fell 32.60 points or 0.64 per4cent to 5,034.23 points with index of 45 most liquid stocks down 0.45 percent to 857.61 points.

"Indonesian economic slowdown still had its impact on the market while there was no positive sentiment," chief researcher of Woori Korindo Securities Indonesia Reza Priyambada said.

Meanwhile, the Asian markets varied in movements but tended to decline adding to negative sentiment on the domestic market, Reza said.

Transactions in the market were recorded at 185,000 times with 3.14 billion shares worth Rp3.73 trillion changing hands on Thursday.

Decliner outnumbered gainers by 181 to 130 shares with 83 shares unchanged.

Regional markets such as Hang Seng and Nikkei recorded a decline in index but Straits Times gained.(*)
