Manado (ANTARA News) - The National Power Utility PLN will build a gas fired power plant in North Sulawesi to meet growing demand for power supply in the province, and the provinces of Central Sulawesi and Gorontalo .

The 150-megawatt power plant will be built in the village of Likupang, North Minahasa.

PT PLN is preparing the necessary documents such as principle license and location license, the company spokesman Rondonuwu said.

Provincial secretary Mokodongan said the project is urgent as frequency of blackout is already high in the region.

He said the project is expected to help contribute to growing demand for power in the region.
