Bogor (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has expressed hope that the management of state-owned oil company Pertamina will become stronger with the appointment of Dwi Soetjipto as its new president director.

"A strong management is indeed needed there (in Pertamina)," he said at the State Palace in Bogor, West Java, after issuing directives to heads of high prosecutors office from across the country on Friday.

He noted that Dwi Soetjiptos appointment was part of the governments efforts to improve the management of oil and gas sector and follows the earlier appointment of former Corruption Eradication Commission chairman Amin Sunaryadi as head of upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas and Faisal Basri as oil and gas management reform chief.

"We have Amien in SKK Migas, Faisal Basri in the reform team, and now a new management in Pertamina. We hope they form a better synergy," he observed.

About Dwis appointment, President Joko Widodo stated that Dwi scored high ranks among the candidates for the post.

"He scored the highest ranks in tests related to global management capacity, competency, and others," he pointed out.

The government through state enterprises minister Rini Soemarno announced the appointment of Dwi Soetjipto, who is the current president director of state-owned cement producer PT Semen Indonesia, as the new president director of Pertamina.

Besides Dwi Soetjipto, the government also named Ahmad Bambang, Yenny Andayani, and Arif Budiman as new directors.
