Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian young athlete Maghrisa Regita made good on her promise winning three gold medals at the Ice Skating Championship 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand, ending on Sunday.

The student of a junior school in Bintaro, South Jakarta, won the medals from Figure Skating Short Program Alpha, Figure Skating Alpha Solo Comp and Figure Skating Stroking Alpha events.

"I am grateful with the results but I am not yet satisfied. I must prepare myself again to participate in the same championship next year in Beijing as well as several other national Ice Skating championships," she said at a written press statement.

Regita said her previous ballet training background had given her greater self-confidence which was an advantage for her to compete with her rivals.

"Initially I was not confident but I could overcome it and successfully beat my rivals. Adaptation has been the key to won the championship," she said.

The Ice Skate Bangkok 2014 was also attended by skaters from China, Uni Arab Emirate, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Indonesia sent nine athletes to the championship offering more than 30 events.

Regita sponsored by Garuda Indonesia, BRI and Bank Mandiro defeated Natcha Wenk from Thailand in the Figure Skating Short Program Alpha.

In the Figure Skating Alpha Solo Comp she beat Pornpawee also from Thailand.

Regita won a third gold medal from Figure Skating Stroking meeting the target set by the Indonesian Roller Skating Association (Porserosi).

Regitas coach Muhammad Ridwan Fadhilah admitted that he was proud of Regitas achievement in view of her small experience in international events.
