"All necessary services should be integrated inside one door. But the most important factor is that people be served properly. We want to realize this," Jokowi said.
Atambua, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - From 2015, the government will fix the facilities and the quality of services at the border, including those related to immigration, customs, security, and quarantine.

"For now, we will only fix services such as those of customs, quarantine, police protection, and healthcare at the border," President Joko Widodo said after observing the facilities at the border between Indonesia and East Timor in Atambua here on Saturday.

The head of state added, "All necessary services should be integrated inside one door. But the most important factor is that people be served properly. We want to realize this."

Besides border facilities and the regulation of traffic, the president also affirmed that the government will improve the quality of life and the welfare of the people living around the border.

"We can see that the people who live around the border are unnoticed. So we will bring about some improvements there," he emphasized.

The president remarked that the development of the border required substantial funding. However, as the budget was split among 27 ministries, the development of the region was given a lesser amount of attention.

"We want to change this and pay the matter the attention it merits. We should focus the budget on it. When that is done, we will manage the system of services," he stated.

The president arrived at Atambua from Kupang by an air force helicopter to review the conditions in the region.(*)
