Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla (JK) has already shown signs of good performance, Irman Gusman, the speaker of the Regional Legislative Council (DPD), stated here on Monday.

"Although it is not yet 100 days old, but it has shown signs of good performance," he noted in a year-end reflection speech at the parliament.

He elaborated that the positive signs included its commitment to improving efficiency in various fields by tightening the use of the budget.

He remarked that the current government has also taken a firm stance by declining the demand of narcotics and premeditated murder death convicts for a presidential pardon.

Irman was of the viewpoint that the government had also striven to promote transparency by presenting the results of its work to the public such as tightening the use of the national budget and involving the heads of high state institutions to monitor the governments work.

"While visiting the regions, the government has also included the heads of high state institutions in its team," he added.

Due to the demonstration of its firm stance and transparency, he said, the public trust in the government of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla, had so far remained high as is evident by the publics acceptance of the governments recent decision to hike the prices of fuel oils by around 23 percent.

"The DPD hopes the governments future performance will continue to become better and better in the future," he remarked.

President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla were inaugurated on October 21 and have run the government for just two months so far.

The two replaced former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and vice president Boediono following their victory against rivals Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Hatta Rajasa in the presidential election on July 9.
