Medan (ANTARA News) - Police shot a suspected drug trafficker with two kilograms of crystal meth at a star-rated hotel in Medan, North Sumatra provincial, on Thursday night.

A joint team of police officers from the National Police Headquarters and the North Sumatra Provincial Police opened fire at one of the three suspected drug traffickers after they resisted arrest at the hotels lobby, spokesman for the North Sumatra Provincial Police Adj. Snr. Comsr. MP Nainggolan said here on Friday.

The suspected drug trafficker, identified as Her, alias Joko, was shot on his right foot, Nainggolan added.

Her was later taken to Bhayangkara police hospital at the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) station for medical treatment.

The police also seized two kilograms of crystal meth (sabu-sabu) and two cars believed to have been used to sell crystal meth.

The narcotics unit of the criminal investigation directorate of the provincial police is investigating the case to find the origin and circulation area of the drug.

All the suspects have been charged for violating Article 111 of Law number 35 of 2009 regarding narcotics. If proven guilty, they can get up to four years in jail.
