I think that is sufficient."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has criticized Commissioner General Budi Gunawans lawyer for reporting its leadership to the Attorney Generals Office alleging power abuse.

"This is a case of alleged corruption. It has procedures. It must be understood well by all parties. A complaint report will only hinder the process of investigation and it will hurt us all, besides adding to the states loss," KPK deputy chief Zulkarnain stated here on Wednesday while responding to the lawyers move.

Budi Gunawans lawyer Razman Arif Nasution on Wednesday morning reported two KPK leaders, Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto, to the AGO for allegedly abusing power, using pressure, and allowing impunity.

According to Razman, he reported Abraham and Bambang on the charges of violating Article 421 of the Criminal Code and Article 23 of Law Number 23, 1999, and Law Number 20, 2001, on corruption eradication carrying a maximum sentence of eight years in jail.

KPK recently declared Commissioner General Budi Gunawan a graft suspect forcing President Joko Widodo to postpone his inauguration as the countrys national police chief despite Parliaments approval.

"It (the move) will only increase the states expenditures as the case procedures (of Budi Gunawan) will take longer and so costs will also increase. People will also be disturbed by the confusion. (It would be better) if they just let the process move faster. We, together with the lawyer, may just control it. There will also be court sessions (which we may control). I think that is sufficient," Zulkarnain noted.

The National Police Headquarters has filed a pre-trial suit against KPK for naming Commissioner General Budi Gunawan suspect.

Chief of the National Polices public relations division Inspector General Ronny F. Sompie has emphasized the police have decided to take a critical stand against the decision so as to protect their member through a legal channel.

Sompie has revealed that the police had several discussions with law experts before filing the suit.
