Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police have named Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bambang Widjojanto a suspect over regional election dispute in 2010.

Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Ronny Sompie said Bambang, who was arrested on Friday morning, was charged with telling witness to give false testimony at Constitutional Court on election dispute in Kotawaringin Barat, Central Kalimantan, when he was still a lawyer in 2010.

Bambang, who joined the KPK later and became one of five KPK leaders, is not arrested but being questioned by police, Ronny said.

Ronny said police received the report about alleged false testimony only on Jan. 15 and it was backed up by expert opinions and document.

Sompie said there is no link between the Bambang case and KPK naming police Comr. Gen Budi Gunawan, a corruption suspect on Jan. 13.

Budi Gunawan was named corruption suspect after President Joko Widodoto picked him to replace Gen. Sutarma as new police chief.
