Bogor, West Java (ANTARA News) - General Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) Prabowo Subianto met President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Palace, West Java, on Thursday.

Prabowo arrived in a Lexus car at the palace at about 2:10 pm local time.

"I will visit him for a courtesy meeting. The president came to my house when he was to be installed. I have, as yet, had no time to meet him in his house so far," Prabowo noted.

He noted that Jokowi, as the president is popularly called, "is also willing to meet me. We are two citizens, and the leaders who always work towards building harmonious relations. I think it is just like that."

It was earlier reported that Prabowo, the founder of the Gerindra party will meet President Jokowi, who defeated him in last years presidential election, the party's secretary general, Ahmad Muzani, stated here on Thursday.

"I was told that Prabowo, as chairman of the Association of Indonesian Pencak Silat Art of Self Defence (IPSI), will meet President Jokowi to report about the result of the Pencak Silat Competition in Thailand," Muzani remarked here.

Prabowo will report that Indonesia emerged as the overall champion of the competition, he stated.

He noted that on Wednesday night, he had information that the meeting will take place in Bogor. However, he could not confirm the report about the venue of the meeting.

He said that the meeting has nothing to do with the present political situation that puts Jokowi in a difficult position as a result of the conflict between the police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"But, that is not unlikely. Jokowi could raise the political issue in the meeting. Let us just see." he added.

Few people would believe that the two political adversaries will meet to discuss petty issues such as Pencak Silat.

The two have represented two opposing political groups before and after the election.
