Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday called on acting secretary general of the ruling party PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto to report the case of KPK chairman Abraham Samad to the anti graft agency.

"KPK invites Hasto to report the case (about Abraham Samads alleged meetings with political party leaders) to KPK," Johan Budi, the a KPK Deputy for Prevention, said.

Hasto has spoken to the mass media and to the Commission III of the Parliament about the case saying Samad had held a number of meetings with political party leaders to discuss the possibility of nominating him vice president candidate as a running mate of Joko Widodo in the last presidential election.

Hasto said he was present in some of the meetings when Samad offered to take care of a legal corruption case faced by a PDIP cadres, Emir Moeis.

"It would have been good if Hasto gave the information and data to KPK instead of reporting to Commission III of the Parliament and talk to the mass media," Johan said .

KPK and Hasto could take the necessary steps if Hastos allegation is true and if there is a breach of ethical or penal code by the KPK leader, he said.

"KPK could study and evaluate the report. Certainly, there would be steps taken related to it," he said.

Unfortunately KPK has not received any information and data about the allegation against KPK leader including Abraham Samad, he said.

Therefore, KPK could not take follow up step to set up Committee of Ethics to probe the allegation, he said.

He said KPK has zero tolerance to improper behaviors both ethical and criminal offenses committed by the commissioners and the the employees.(*)
