Therefore we should have many LNG receiving terminals and deep sea ports."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Government of Indonesia will continue to optimize domestic gas absorption by developing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) receiving terminals in numerous regions, according to Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla.

"If we want to use our own LNG in large quantity, we should have many receiving terminals in numerous regions across the country," the vice president said after visiting Sodegaura LNG terminal in Japan on Sunday.

Kalla noted that Indonesia has a lot of gas resources but has yet to optimally use the liquefied natural gas, the environmentally friendly energy resource.

According to him, Indonesia has made a lot of LNG shipping and distribution but still lack in receiving, because it was not supported by adequate supporting facility.

The vice president explained that the country was facing a number of obstacles, including enormous investment of about US$1 billion, or equivalent to more than Rp10 trillion.

"Therefore we should have many LNG receiving terminals and deep sea ports," the vice president said, adding that domestic LNG absorption was not optimal because of insufficient infrastructure and receiving terminals.
