Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale jolted Banggai of Central Sulawesi Province on Wednesday at 08:22:15 am Western Indonesian Time (GMT+7).

According to Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the earthquake was located 54km Northwest of Banggai District, Central Sulawesi Province, or 0.55 degree of Southern Latitude - 122.28 degrees of Eastern Longitude, at the depth of 10km.

The earthquake has no tsunami potential.

Previously on Monday (March 16), Banggai was also jolted by another earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter Scale at 6:16 am.

The epicenter of the quake was at 0.52 degree southern latitude and 122.36 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 10 km.

It was located at Minahasa peninsula, or 58 km northeast of Banggai, 132 km southeast of Boalemo, 140 km southwest of Gorontalo, and 1.836 km southeast of Jakarta.(*)
