All students here look cheerful. This means you are all ready for the test."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) fully supported a nationwide computer-based test, stated Culture, Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan.
"President Jokowi has said that computer-based national tests could be developed further," the education minister remarked in a press conference here on Tuesday.
However, he noted that the implementation of computed-based national examination is not a reason for procuring computers.
When questioned about the process of the ongoing national examinations across the country, the minister revealed that they are running relatively smoothly and better.
Anies remarked that as compared to previous years, the national test this time no longer determines pass or failure but only serves as a mapping and consideration for the examinees to continue their studies in colleges.
"I have seen the previous archive and found that this is the first time a president is directly observing the proceedings of the national examination this year," Anies noted.
The minister and Jakarta Governor Jakarta Basuki Tjahja Purnama, better known as Ahok, accompanied President Jokowi to visit the State Senior High School-2 (SMAN-2) on Gajahmada Street in Central Jakarta to observe the exam.
During the visit, President Jokowi reminded the students to not attempt the test in a hurry.
"All students here look cheerful. This means you are all ready for the test. Well done and do the test carefully and honestly," the president told the students of SMAN-2.
"Stay calm and do not hurriedly attempt the test. I pray for all the students in Indonesia to pass this national examination with good scores," the president encouraged the students.
