Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Health and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) have established a cooperation agreement to combat and prevent money laundering crimes, stated Health Minister Nila F. Moeloek.

"Today, the Ministry of Health and PPATK signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the prevention and eradication of money laundering crimes," Minister Moeloek noted after the signing of the MoU here on Thursday.

She remarked that the cooperation agreement encompasses the exchange of information, improvement of competence, and research in the field of prevention and eradication of money laundering.

According to the minister, the cooperation is important as not all employees are aware of the signs of misuse of the state funds.

The MoU was signed by Minister Moeloek and PPATK Chief Muhammad Yusuf.

In the meantime, the PPATK chief pointed out that the medical profession is very susceptible to get trapped in the vortex of corruption.

Yusuf noted that the medical profession tends to be used as a loophole by the perpetrators of corruption to funnel the graft proceeds.
