Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Young scientists from 31 countries are participating in the International Science Project Olympiad (ISPRO) 2015, which opened here on Monday.

"We want to know more about the life and culture in Indonesia," Jeton, a participant from Kosovo, stated.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Education and Culture, the number of participants this year is higher than last years event, which was only attended by representatives from 27 countries, or in 2013, when only 24 countries took part.

The 31 countries participating in the ISPRO 2015 include Afghanistan, Angola, Australia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Senegal, Serbia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Uganda.

The competition for senior high school students is being held on May 3-9.

Indonesian delegate Deni expressed pride and happiness to be able to participate in the international event.

"I am very happy as I can meet my peers from other parts of the world, and we are optimistic that we will perform well in the event," he affirmed.

Indonesia has sent 10 research papers on health, agriculture, electronics, and biology that were selected by the Indonesia Students Research Olympiad to the ISPRO 2015.
