Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President, M Jusuf Kalla, officially kicked off the opening of Jakarta Fair 2015 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Friday evening.

"The Jakarta Fair is unique because it promotes trade, business, and industrial products, and at the same it is combined with a night market," Kalla said during his opening remarks.

General Commissioner of PT JIExpo Murdaya Po expected at least five million people to visit the 38-day fair, which runs until July 5, 2015.

The number of fair visitors increased from 4.5 million in 2012 to 4.8 million in 2013.

"The Jakarta Fair is also expected to book business transactions worth over Rp5 trillion this year," Murdaya Po stated.

The price of an entry ticket to Jakarta Fair 2015 is Rp20 thousand on Monday, Rp25 thousand on Tuesday through Thursday, and Rp30 thousand from Friday to Sunday.

Because the Fair is coinciding with the Ramadhan fasting month, which is estimated to begin on June 18 and end on July 16, the organizing committee will provide free fast-breaking meals (iftar) and organize night prayers during Ramadhan.

During the opening ceremony, Kalla was accompanied by his wife, Mufidah, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno, Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.
