Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a meeting with a number of cabinet ministers and related officials in his office here on Friday to plan a national strategy to eradicate and prevent corruption.

He said while opening the meeting that he had issued Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 7, 2015, on Eradication and Prevention of Corruption.

"In the framework of realizing a clean and corruption-free government, this evening, we will discuss a national strategy to eradicate and prevent corruption," he emphasized.

President Joko Widodo reiterated that Indonesia wished to step up efforts to prevent and completely do away with the crime to achieve its growth target.

"We wish to build a good mechanism with accurate accountability through the development of e-budgeting, e-purchasing, e-cataloguing and e-auditing systems, as well as an online tax system," he stated.

The president further noted that he believes an online system would be able to strengthen supervision and accountability at the levels of both national and regional governments.

"I am convinced this will reduce corruption significantly in regions as well as the national level," he remarked.
