Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Ngurah Rai International Airport has added over 283 flights of eight local and international airlines to serve passengers during Idul Fitri, General Manager of Airport operator Angkasa Pura II in Gusti Ngurah Rai International airport, Trikora Harjo stated.

"We have added over 283 additional flights to serve domestic and international flight routes," he noted after opening the Idul Fitri Transportation Control Center here on Thursday.

According to Harjo, 264 flights will operate on domestic routes and another 19 will be international flights, with 51,546 extra seats.

The domestic flights will be operated by Citilink Airlines with 77 flights, Air Asia Indonesia with 62, Nam Air operating 54, Sriwijaya Air with 36, Garuda Indonesia with 27, and Lion Air operating 8 flights connecting destinations in Java such as Jakarta with 158 flights, Surabaya with 54, Yogyakarta with 18, Solo with 20, and Bandung with 14.

Besides domestic flights, extra flights are also available to other countries such as 11 flights to Taipei, Taiwan, and eight flights to Hong Kong.

Harjo revealed that the number of additional flights has decreased about six percent even during Idul Fitri and the holiday season due to the declining economic conditions.

Domestic tourists visit Bali to enjoy their vacations during the Idul Fitri holidays whereas other regions have an influx of home-bound travelers.
